JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi World Trade Center (MSWTC) enters its 11th year with Liza Cirlot Looser, CEO of The Cirlot Agency, at the helm. The Cirlot Agency is a Mississippi-based, full-service integrated communications firm specializing in global brand strategy, and Looser plans to use her knowledge of international business to support MSWTC members’ companies and the growing $11 billion dollar export market in Mississippi.
“Now more than ever, it’s important for every company, no matter the size, to reach outside of Mississippi and the United States to identify areas of growth,” said Looser. “With advanced technology and the resources the Mississippi World Trade Center brings to its members, businesses have the opportunity to trade in markets all over the world.”
The MSWTC offers several tools to businesses across the state, including educational seminars, market research and networking. MSWTC members have access to the World Trade Center Association’s network of 750,000 companies. Currently, there are more than 330 world trade centers around the globe, and they work to assist companies in securing a footprint in the international marketplace.
“We want to help educate and partner with our state’s companies to find and promote global commerce efforts,” said Looser. “The Mississippi World Trade Center is such a great resource, because we can help small businesses who have never traded internationally, as well as corporations who already trade all over the world.”
Looser was elected president of the board in 2011. John Hendrix, the 2010 and 2011 board president, passed the gavel to Looser at the MSWTC’s Annual Meeting & Business Leadership Awards Luncheon in December. In 2010, Looser received the MSWTC’s top award, the Tozzoli Award for Distinct International Business Leadership.
The Mississippi World Trade Center is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to assisting Mississippi businesses with all aspects of international trade. The organization works in partnership with the Trade Bureau in the Mississippi Development Authority’s Global Business Division and other entities to support and encourage trade opportunities for Mississippi businesses and promote Mississippi products worldwide.
